Office is licensed with a perpetual license, not a subscription. I would like to subscribe to Office so that I can use Outlook I do not want to install Excel , PowerPoint , or Word when I install Outlook , so that I can continue to use the other Office apps with my perpetual license. But the documenation I have found so far indicates it is no longer an option Office does install the programs locally, like your installation.
The main difference is that your Office applications have to contact a MS server through the internet every days to "verify your license status".
